Hair extensions: your questions answered

Which method is right for me?

It comes down to how much hair you have and how big a change you want.

Tape extensions are the most common starting point. They are flat, light and spread the weight across many small pieces, which makes them the safest choice for most people and the easiest to hide. Invisible tape does the same job with a more see-through base, for hair that is very fine or a parting that shows.

Wefts come into their own when your hair is thick and you want a lot of length or volume at once, since one row covers what several tapes would.

Is this real hair?

Yes. Everything we sell is 100% human hair, which is why it can be washed, styled and warmed with a straightener like your own.

How do I find the right shade?

Match to the ends of your hair rather than the roots, since that is where your own hair meets the extension and where a mismatch shows.

Most people end up with two shades blended rather than one flat colour, especially if they have highlights or a darker root. If you are unsure, send us a photo taken in daylight without a filter and we will tell you what we would pick.

How long will they last?

Your stylist will move them up every six to eight weeks as your own hair grows. The hair itself lasts through several of those rounds, so one set usually covers many months.

What shortens that is heat without protection, oils near the attachment and rough brushing.

Will extensions damage my hair?

Not in themselves. Problems come from carrying more weight than your hair can take, leaving the attachments in too long, or removing them without the right product.

A good stylist manages all three, which is the main reason we recommend having them fitted professionally rather than at home.

Can I colour or style them?

You can style them with heat, and a stylist can usually deepen the colour or tone them. Lightening is a different matter, since extension hair has already been processed and does not respond like hair on your head. Always ask your stylist first.

Do I need a stylist, or can I do it myself?

All three of our methods are made to be fitted in a salon. Placement, weight and colour blending are what make extensions look like your own hair, and those are hard to judge on the back of your own head.
